Will my app scale when millions of people start using it?

Our short engineering answer—it will. Moreover, when you are just planning your business, this is not on your list of top 1000 problems. We can confidently answer this question since we have experience running 10M+ MAUs multiplayer gaming systems and have seen many companies overspend in order to build a robust system architecture that they never even needed.

In the beginning stages, make building a solid core product your priority instead of obsessing over scalability and server farms. Create a great app and then worry about what to do once it’s wildly successful. Otherwise you may waste energy, time, and money fixating on something that never even happens. The bigger problem isn’t scaling, it’s getting to the point where you have to scale. Without the first problem you won’t have the second.

One thing that you need to keep in mind is that the server side of your system is built using conventional technologies like PHP, MySQL, MongoDB etc., and that your engineers have experience running high load systems and have a plan to handle 100,000 concurrent users. If the system and the people can handle 100K users they will be able to handle 1M the next week.

BeKitzur has knowledge and experience handling millions of concurrent users. We are professionals in scaling PHP/node.js/Java/MySQL/Mongo servers solutions on Amazon EC2 and other cloud solutions providers.
